In the fall of 2006, wide-eyed, vibrant adolescents descended upon campuses across the country in hopes of gaining the skills needed to start carving themselves career paths upon graduation. At the time, Facebook founders were trying to determine how to spend the $27.5 million they had raised from venture capitalists, with the goal of reaching the 10 million mark in users later that year.
