Oyster, a remote-work automation company that helps organizations manage their remote workforce, has turned its sights on matching employers with contractors more quickly and easily.  Its new product, Oyster for Contractors, addresses the essential needs of compliant contracts, e-signatures, payouts and tax form collection all in one place.

Oyster said that when hiring contractors, companies are often under pressure to either put up with lengthy onboarding processes or hire quickly at the risk of compliance and payment accuracy. Meanwhile, contractors shoulder unnecessary stress as they wonder when and how they’ll be paid for their work.

Companies must be able to hire quickly and compliantly, the company said, while safely paying their workers anywhere in the world, using any currency and with a transparent currency exchange rate. At the same time, contractors need to focus on the job they were hired to do, instead of worrying about being paid on time.

Oyster’s Solution

The new product, Oyster for Contractors, provides a fast, streamlined experience for both companies and contractors, according to Oysterd. Onboarding new contractors can be done in minutes rather than days, the company said. Companies can engage contractors who live outside of where those companies maintain their own entities. For example, a U.S.-based company engaging with contractors in Spain. Similarly, Oyster for Contractors supports organizations that wish to engage in-country contractors.

“Accessing the global talent pool … still comes with certain challenges, particularly for companies hiring contractors. Many companies continue to deal with inconsistent hiring processes and compliance risk,” said Oyster co-founder Jack Mardack. “With Oyster for Contractors, both contractors and companies can put their minds at ease, knowing they will have a smooth and seamless experience.”

Earlier this year, Oyster received investments from PayPal Ventures and HR Tech Investments, an affiliate of Indeed. The company also launched Oyster for Impact, a program designed to help mission-driven companies build distributed teams. Oyster for Impact is open to certified nonprofits and benefit corporations around the world.
