iCIMS acquired Candidate.ID, a Glasgow, Scotland-based recruitment technology startup.

Candidate.ID’s software automates repetitive candidate-engagement tasks and allows talent acquisition professionals to personalize and manage engagement workflows with customizable multi-channel campaigns. iCIMS plans to add the functionality to iCIMS Talent Cloud.

The acquisition comes as talent teams are strapped for resources and struggling with recruiter burnout and an inability to hire at scale, all while under pressure to hire more quality candidates, faster than ever before.

Using Candidate.ID, iCMIS said, recruiters can see in real time which candidates are engaged, measure their intent, and focus on those who are the best fit for a role. The software also allows recruiting teams to hyper-target the best fitting, most engaged candidates with unique lead-scoring and automated marketing campaigns.

iCIMS customers will also be able to qualify talent more effectively with Candidate.ID’s lead scoring and improve their efficiency by re-engaging with existing candidates.

Candidate.ID CEO Adam Gordon believes his company and iCIMS have a shared vision that will allow them both to accelerate the adoption of marketing automation by talent acquisition functions throughout industry. “When we started Candidate.ID five years ago,” he said, “we were on a mission to solve real recruitment challenges with marketing automation software.”

For his part, iCIMS CEO Steve Lucas said his time leading the marketing-software firm Marketo taught him about marketing automation’s power and utility. With the acquisition of Candidate.ID, he said, iCIMS will become “the first company to bring that power at scale to the world of recruiting.”

‘Tough Market Conditions’

According to iCIMS’ March 2022 Monthly Workforce Report, job openings are up 44% since January 2021, while the number of applications are flat. Employers, already facing a situation where fewer candidates are available to fill more open positions, are also being challenged by higher expectations among job seekers, including personalized communications that include video, social media and text messaging.

In a statement provided by iCIMS, Aptitude Research founder Madeline Laurano said Candidate.ID is “leading the way in marketing automation and CRM.” She said adding its functionality to iCIMS Talent Cloud is “really powerful” and puts iCIMS in a strong leadership position within the recruitment marketing world.
