UK-based job-search engine Adzuna said it’s acquired Getwork, a U.S. platform targeting enterprise companies.

Led by President Brad Squibb, the Getwork team will work alongside Adzuna’s 100-person staff in a bid to accelerate growth in North America. The companies said the acquisition will combine the reputation and enterprise focus of Getwork with the international reach and programmatic/tech expertise of Adzuna.

Getwork connects jobseekers and job openings at a variety of North American employers, indexing millions of verified jobs each day from tens of thousands of employer career sites, the company said. That includes over 50 of the Fortune 100. The platform was spun out of the Minneapolis-based job market data company LinkUp a year ago.

With offices in London, Indianapolis and Sydney, Adzuna describes its mission as using technology to improve job matching. For employers, the company’s matching technology and programmatic delivery helps fill positions quickly by acquiring, qualifying and matching the right candidates to open roles.

Separate But Equal

Getwork and Adzuna will continue to operate as independent brands with their own established communities of jobseekers. They will jointly index job ads from over 50,000 employer websites including those of FedEx, Home Depot, Amazon and Walmart. They expect to receive “tens of millions” of monthly jobseeker visits.

The acquisition follows Adzuna’s launch into four new countries, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain and Mexico. The job search engine now operates across 20 markets globally.

Adzuna  CEO Doug Monro believes the acquisition “will help us supercharge our growth in North America,” he said. “It’s also a great fit as their team and mission are so aligned with ours.” Enterprise companies in the U.S. are “crying out for strong alternatives to existing offerings,” he said. The transaction will combine Adzuna’s marketing expertise, global footprint and programmatic job matching technology with Getwork’s industry knowledge and reputation, Monro said.

For Getwork’s Squibb, the transaction matches Getwork with “a truly global business,” and creates an opportunity for his company to “scale into new markets.”
