If you have an email account, you know this routine all too well. Radicati Group did a study in February 2017 and found that by one estimate, the number of email users worldwide was 3.7 billion and the amount of emails sent per day (in 2017) to be about 269 billion.
And, 205 billion email messages per day means almost 2.4 million emails are sent every second and some 74 trillion — yes, that’s trillion — emails are sent per year.
That’s a lot of email. The sad news is that many candidates are not even opening your email.
According to Experian’s benchmark report, across all industries, the average open rate for the second quarter of 2016 was 25 percent. This is not going to stop people from sending email, and of course, some is better than none.
Using Video
On the bright side, you can make your emails better. Have you ever thought about adding video to your emails?Jeff Bullas offered these email with video stats:
- The word “video” in subject line increases open rate by 19 percent (source)
- A video inside email increases click-through rate by 60 percent (source)
- Video can increase web conversion rates by 100 percent (lots of examples here)
Need more proof? ClearFit, a company that uses AI to find top candidates, was able to show that emails with a direct, obvious video call-to-action had a 53 percent higher click-to-open rate on average over those that had no obvious mention of video.
They were also able to segment their list based on who had watched more than 50 percent of their video and follow up directly with these highly engaged leads.
It all looks great on paper, but personally, I’m not convinced. So, I am bringing in the big dogs to help us out.
