Emotional Intelligence is IN

Who says we can’t see into the future? In this podcast series from HRTech 2019, RecruitingDaily has teamed up with Talemetry to discuss the future of talent acquisition and what the landscape might look like for hiring in the year 2025. We’re asking everyone the same question:

What skills will you be hiring for in 5 years?

In our last episode with Betsy Summers, the topic was human skills, and the ability to tell the story behind data and technology. We also speculate a bit on what could happen to the hiring process and engagement during a potential recession. If you missed it, listen here.

For you today, we have JD Cummings, who is the Vice President of Recruiting at Raising Canes. We love that he takes a different direction with his answer. JD believes that emotional intelligence is going to be one of the most important skills, and that will include all levels of hiring.

He goes on to say that having the ability to accept and process feedback, and then make adjustments as needed will be incredibly important. With technology, we have access to so much information and can acquire a lot of knowledge.

The issue is that our interactions have become on computers and phone screens and not with each other. We are losing our human touch and not working on that EQ development.

JD’s question for William brings the discussion toward what AI actually is, as well as whether some of these technology advances are actually better or if they should be done by a human. Other points include video interviews, over-funding technology, and tips on how to choose the best vendor.

Tune in for the whole interview, and let us know what you think. Are we losing our human touch?
