dont jumpIt’s becoming a trend in itself to predict trends this time of year. One that has come up a lot more often lately has been the prediction that recruiting itself will die in the coming years. This specific trend has some recruiters panicked but others scoffing at the possibilities and angrily commenting on these Nostradamus style posts.

Mostly because the people who have been in recruiting for awhile know that this is a human to human business where people must have the guts to fight for the right people despite their non-traditional backgrounds. They also know that to truly recruit and source efficiently, you must be a forever student.

Plus, who would the hiring managers yell at if they didn’t have a recruiter?

The bottom line is that recruiting isn’t dying, it’s evolving thanks to this new technology. If recruiters die with it? It’s by suicide – allowing companies to simplify and reduce recruiting’s value into an algorithm. It’s just not that simple and it’s a recruiter’s responsibility to teach companies about that value. To show them that hiring isn’t a linear problem to solve but rather an unpredictable path of negotiation.

In this podcast, hosts Amy Miller and I talk with Mike Wolford – data extraordinaire and 20+ year recruiting professional to figure out what parts of recruiting, if any, will die and where this technology is taking hiring teams next. We’ll also touch on the machine’s potential impact on search, diversity and quality of hire.

Listen now to learn:

  • Why keyword matching isn’t a recruiting death sentence
  • Where AI can support recruiting immediately and long term
  • Why recruiting isn’t dying anytime soon
  • And more about Amy’s makeup and horses. Yes, horses.
