What Makes a Good Recruiter GREAT?
Sourcing school is back in session! Ryan Leary and Brian Fink take on an “easy” topic: Today we are going to talk about what makes a good recruiter great.

Here’s what we think:
There are a few skills that can make a good recruiter great.
The first has to be having an endless curiosity to discover not only what your candidate does, but also what the organization does. You need to know what problem the role is going to solve for the organization. It’s not just filling headcount.
You have to also want to learn about the group you’re trying to recruit and understand what the people will be working with. Whether that’s a software, or programming language, you have to be able to grasp the basics of what it entails.
Next comes empathy. As Ryan says, it’s a natural addition to curiosity. It’s important to understand what motivates an individual. Brian adds that you’re basically performing a double-sided sale where you have to sell a company to a candidate but also sell that candidate to the company. If you aren’t self-aware, you’re going to wear yourself thin.
